The third amendment to Law 5/2006, article 8, paragraph d, establishes that one of the CNE's (National Electoral Commission) responsibilities is to promote objective clarification for citizens regarding the electoral process.

In view of this responsibility, during 2024 the CNE carried out civic education activities throughout the country with the aim of increasing voters' knowledge about the electoral process, in order to increase voter participation in all elections.

Within the context of district elections and preparation for municipal elections, the National Electoral Commission carried out 148 civic education activities, with the participation of sixteen thousand one hundred and eighty-two (16,182) voters. Of this total, 6,930 were women (42.8%) and 9,252 were men (57.2%).

In this activity, the CNE (National Elections Commission) changed its strategy to involve relevant entities, such as the State Secretariat for Equality (SEI), municipal authorities, women's organizations, organizations for people with disabilities, and youth organizations, in order to disseminate information related to gender and inclusion programs, local development policies, and youth education activities.
